AEZ Special Economic Zone is a 700 Acre industrial complex located in Eldoret.
This SEZ will be home to numerous industries including Agro-processing, Energy related manufacturing, Machinery manufacturing and assembly, Heavy engineering, Construction materials, Electronics, ICT, Chemical Industries, Pharmaceutical industries, R&D facilities, etc.
AEZ is located along the Northern Economic corridor which is the trade route from the port of Mombasa to Uganda, Rwanda and other countries within the region.
Eldoret International Airport is also within 30 minutes drive and is fast becoming an air freight cargo designation.
Kenya’s historic railway passes through the SEZ on its way to Uganda. This provides an additional mode of transport for accessing the regional markets.
The SEZ will be a controlled and managed industrial park offering quality infrastructure and facilities for manufacturing and other related activities.
Africa Economic Zones Ltd (AEZ) was awarded a licence in 2017 to develop and operate Kenya’s first Special Economic Zone located in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The project will attract significant investment into the region as well as creating employment and impacting the economy significantly. This will create national wealth and enable investment in social programs and infrastructure development.
The world’s largest producer of silk fabric signed an MOU with AEZ in 2018 to set up silk production facilities within the SEZ including contracting some 8000 Ha land in the surrounding region to produce Mulberry leaves for the Silk worm. This industry alone is expected to create over 300,000 jobs.
